Ardnamurchan Charters was founded in 1985 in Laga Bay on the Ardnamurchan peninsula in the West Highland peninsulas. A small family business renting out self drive boats on the shores of Loch Sunart. In 1995 we began offering wildlife boat tours and charter boat tours with our charter boat Laurenca 2, a 38 foot Aquastar.
In 2001 we opened our self catering accommodation here in Laga Bay, Ardnamurchan, overlooking Loch Sunart – a perfect base for holidays and water based activities with direct access to the water.
In 2003 we became the caretakers for the Isle of Carna in Loch Sunart, an off grid haven for nature and wildlife offering a truly remote getaway in two self catering cottages.
Andy is a keen diver, wildlife watcher, was chair of the local Tourism association for many years, is a Station Officer for Salen MCA (Maritime Coastguard Agency), and a passionate conservationist. He is a founder member of the CAOLAS (Community Association Of Lochs And Sounds) marine conservation charity and of Carna Conservation Initiative . Established to support and enhance the wildlife, biodiversity and ecology of Carna, the surrounding waters and local community.
Andy and Allison have an active role in establishing and promoting the Loch Sunart marine protected area (MPA) and the first UK Mission Blue Argyll Hope Spot.
Andy and Allison combine their decades of local knowledge and experience in marine and wildlife based tourism in offering sustainable, low impact experiences to others from short, family-friendly trips to full blown adventure charters.
